Ribbon Pasta Ragu with Meatballs Recipe, a rich and tasty dinner thats really simple to make.
Pappardelle pasta is one of my favorite types of pasta. The wide ribbon pasta really grabs onto the sauce of whatever meal you’re making. For this recipe I combined a basic marinara sauce that’s rich and flavorful with some hearty meatballs for the perfect pasta dish.

Ingredients
- For the Sauce
- olive oil
- 6 ounces of ground beef
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1/2 cup of white wine
- Three 15 ounce cans of crushed tomatoes
- salt and pepper
- ground oregano
- fresh basil leaves
- For the Meatballs
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 2 tablespoons minced onion
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of Italian bread crumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- salt and pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
Instructions
- For the Sauce
- Prepare pappardelle pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside
- Brown ground beef and drain excess grease.
- Add garlic and chopped onions and sautee for a minute.
- Pour in the wine and whisk. Cook for 3 minutes.
- Add in the crushed tomatoes and stir until well combined. Add in salt and pepper,ground oregano and drizzle with olive oil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
- For the Meatballs
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- Combine ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, cheese, garlic, onion, salt and pepper.
- Roll out meat into 1 1/2 inch medium sized meatballs and place on a nonstick cookie sheet.
- Bake 12 minutes.
- Pour sauce over ribbon pasta and meatballs, add a sprinkle fresh parmesan and chopped basil. Serve!
