For the past few years we have made it a tradition to explore all of the festive holiday activities at National Harbor. Hands down our favorite activities are at the Gaylord National Resort.
This year’s events were the best yet! Let me take you on a little picture walk through our Winter on the Potomac adventure!
First stop…Character Breakfast!
Delicious breakfast buffet with Grinch Trivia and visits from The Grinch and Max!
Green Grinch waffles for the win!
Second stop… Make and Take Activities! Two make and take activities were available: Grinch slime and Grinch sugar scrub. Both were a hit! Our kiddos love any sensory ooey gooey experience!
Not only were the activities kid-pleasing, but the staff members leading the crafts were phenomenal. They were kind, patient, and enthusiastic! As any parent knows, grumpy or disinterested staff at events can totally limit (possibly destroy) the fun factor of an event. Not here! Awesome staff increased the fun factor!
Grinch Sugar Scrub!
Here we also received our Scavenger Hunt booklet and the hunt for Grinch clues began!
The scavenger hunt was super fun for the kiddos, but also gave us a mini tour of the beautiful Gaylord indoor village Christmas decorations!
Third Stop: ICE!
9 degrees! Blue parkas! Unique experience! This year’s ICE was stunning! The vivid colors and gigantic creative ice sculptures paired with music create an experience that almost makes you forget how cold it is! Truly this year’s ICE Grinch event was a home run!
Ice Slides are a must!

Then Ice Skating! Again, phenomenal staff! They kindly helped the kiddos up each time they fell and offered ice skating advice with a smile!
After skating the kiddos finished their Scavenger Hunt!
Our final activity: Cirque du Soleil performance!
SUPER fun day to kick off the holiday season!
Our advice…GO! Arrive early and plan to spend several hours! There is so much to do. Not pictured is our visit with Santa! Mrs. Claus is also there for a sweet story and sing-a-long. Check out the website regarding all of the activities available.
